STEP 1: Keyword Research Analysis & Research
You should start by making sure your website is focused on the RIGHT keywords that will bring the RIGHT targeted visitors to your website. The ones that will be the most profitable for you! The goal is to carefully analyze your business and your website to find the “sweet spot” for your niche and develop a finely tuned keyword list to bring the right targeted visitor to your website.
STEP 2: On-Site Optimization
Before we go any further, it’s important you understand that high search engine rankings are best achieved using both “on-page optimization” and “off-page optimization”. On-page optimization refers to all the factors that you can control on your web site pages. Things like site navigation, meta data, internal linking, website architecture, keyword density, website content, etc. Off-page optimization refers to ranking factors that are typically out of your direct control. The most important off-site factors are the links back to your web site.
So, before we discuss all the ways to get high search engine rankings using off-page optimization, it is important you spend some time making sure your website and all its pages have been carefully edited for optimal on-page “best practices”. In fact, some experts believe a properly optimized page accounts for as much as 20% of its ranking in the search engines.
STEP 3: Article Marketing
Each of the following 7 steps involve off-page optimization. Off-page optimization is critical for search engine domination. The problem is off-page optimization is not only difficult and extremely competitive, but the “rules of the game” are constantly changing.

OK, let’s discuss the keys to search engine domination using off-page optimization starting with Article Marketing. Each and every month you need to write and submit at least 2 original 500-word articles (including author resource boxes and proper anchor text links) to at least 20 article directory websites including the big ones like Ezinearticles. This effort alone should result in 50+ quality and long-lasting back links each month to your website!
STEP 4: Submission to Popular Web Directories
Your next step for search engine domination is to submit your website to search engine friendly directories that will build links back to your site helping you continually improve your rankings in the search engines and build traffic as well.
It is also very important to make sure your company’s name, address, phone number and description can be found on all the online Yellow Pages, Social Networks, 411 Directory Assistance and Mobile/GPS navigation type devices.
For example, when we get a new client one of the first things we do is make sure they get enhanced listings at the online versions of Superpages, Yellowpages and Yellowbook. We also make sure they get listed on portals and guide websites such as AOL Mapquest and CitySearch. Then we take it a step further and add their business information to 411 Directory Information and other cellphone and mobile dependent websites (Blackberry and iPhone). We even add all our clients to In-Car GPS Navigation and Telematics such as OnStar.
STEP 5: Video Marketing
Video’s are hot and you must take advantage of this phenomenon. To do it right, you need to create and submit an original video to at least 25 video websites like YouTube, Vimeo, Metacafe, etc. every month promoting your business. In fact, because the search engines love videos (that’s why Google paid more than a BILLION dollars to buy YouTube), you should actually resubmit that video again during the month to all those websites to get even more visibility!
STEP 6: Press Releases
A properly written and optimized press release is the fastest way to “get the word out” about your company or website and when your message is picked up by the “wires” your exposure can literally skyrocket overnight. At a minimum, each month you should take the time to craft at least one simple, yet effective 500-750 word press release properly optimized for maximum SEO effectiveness.
STEP 7: Press Release Submission
OK, so you’ve written the press release, now what? Because search engines like Google absolutely love fresh and timely content, the key is to submit your press release to at least 30 press release directories guaranteeing wide distribution of your hot news! Your website will also benefit from higher search engine rankings by virtue of the incoming back-links from every site where your press release is published. We think this step is so important, we actually bought a press release distribution business so our clients can get preferential treatment.
STEP 8: Social Media & Web 2.0 Sites
Social Bookmarking is a key off-page optimization technique to increase both real traffic and get new links for your site. You will get more traffic almost immediately and also get long term incoming link support for your site’s Search Engine positioning. The problem is going through all of the social bookmarking websites is incredibly time-consuming (and boring!). But don’t worry – we have just the answer for you!
STEP 9: Blog Submissions
Everybody knows blogs are hot and the search engines love the fresh content. That’s exactly why you must submit daily blog postings across the Internet to provide loads of high quality back links to your website. This effort can be a bit tedious at times, but needs to be done consistently to maintain high search engine rankings.
